As I shared the stories of Dad’s cancer fight and my upcoming participation in the 2009 LIVESTRONG Challenge in Austin, TX, I was stunned by the number of people I know who have been touched by cancer in some way. I asked my Twitter Tweeps and Facebook Friends who they knew that was affected by cancer, and the names poured in. I wanted to find a way to honor them and their perseverance in the battle against cancer. I decided to do up a jersey that lists those names, everyone for whom I’m riding in the 2009 LIVESTRONG Challenge in Austin. Some are living, some are not, all are Survivors in my mind. They didn’t quit. I won’t quit.

The jerseys cost $66, and $25 of that goes to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. You know you want one. The order form is to the right.

Here’s the sizing chart. Note that cycling jerseys are designed to fit a bit snugger than a T-shirt. If you are between sizes or like a roomier fit, please go up one size. Fellow cyclists, you know the drill.

ABOUT THE JERSEY DESIGN:

The train logo honors Dad, who was a lifelong model railroad enthusiast. The train is based on the Santa Fe Chief Streamliner series that dominated 20th Century rail travel from the 1930’s – 1960’s. The Santa Fe line was Dad's favorite. The “Unstoppable” text represents his determination to beat cancer. You’ve seen what happens when a train hits a car. Imagine what a train of hope and unstoppable determination will do to cancer.

The numbers 624 on the train’s nose and left sleeve represent June 24, the day Dad’s fight in the cancer war ended. It’s the day my fight against cancer got more intense.

The Twitterrific logo symbolizes the power and impact Twitter has in my cancer fighting efforts. With a few 140-character tweets and re-tweets, we were able to rally LIVESTRONG supporters to Leadville, CO, in support of Lance Armstrong’s participation in the 2009 Leadville Trail 100 mountain bike race. We raised over $1600 over 2 days. The great folks at The Iconfactory make Twitterrific, a desktop and iPhone application that I use. Check them out at http://www.iconfacory.com/.

The Accenture logo represents the support my employer and co-workers have put behind me. Our slogan, “High Performance. Delivered.” inspires me at work and in my cancer fight.
